Your animal, woven to order

I make bespoke willow sculptures, from whimsical animals to elegant decorative pieces, each one woven by hand from sustainably grown English willow. Tell me what you'd love and we'll shape it together.

Made for a garden, a home or someone you love

I weave with the traditional techniques of a heritage craft and a contemporary eye, and I want each piece to celebrate the natural world.

  • Willow dragonflies on stakes above a bed of lavender

A statement piece for the garden

Creatures to stand among the flowers or keep watch from a wall, like a flight of dragonflies above the lavender.

  • A willow lamb with a pink ribbon at its neck beside a willow heart on a farmhouse table

    A cherished gift

A lamb with a heart for someone you love, or a fox for a wedding anniversary, made for the person you have in mind.

  • A willow moon gazing hare in a hallway beside a heart of dried flowers

    An addition to your home

An elegant piece for the hallway, the mantelpiece or a quiet corner, woven to suit the space.

Why a commission takes at least three weeks

Willow straight from the bundle is too stiff to weave. I soak it until it's pliable enough to bend, and you can't hurry that part.

  1. Into the water

The rods go into water and stay there until they've soaked right through.

  2. Pliable enough to bend

Soaked willow bends where dry willow won't, so it can follow the curve of an ear or a tail.

  3. Woven by hand

Then I weave your piece, checking in with you at agreed stages before I carry on.

What to put in your first message

A few details help me picture your piece and come back to you with ideas. Don't worry if you're not sure about everything yet.

  • The animal or bird you have in mind

A hare, a fox, a favourite bird. A photo helps if you have one.

  • Where it will live

In the house or out in the garden, and roughly how big you'd like it.

  • Who it's for

A gift, a treat for yourself, or a piece to mark an occasion.

  • Any date you need it by

Allow at least three weeks from when we agree the design.

Good to know

The questions people usually ask before they commission a piece.

At least three weeks, because the willow has to be soaked until it's pliable enough to weave. If you need it for a particular date, say so in your first message.

Yes. I consult you at agreed stages and ask you to approve the design and the progress before I carry on, so the finished piece is what you hoped for.

I use English willow, sustainably grown in Somerset, and some from closer to home.

I pack every piece in sturdy protective packaging, recyclable where possible, and send it Royal Mail Tracked 48 where I can. Larger or more delicate sculptures go by a trusted courier, and any extra cost is agreed with you before dispatch. Delivery and returns

Because each piece is made for you, commissioned work can't be cancelled once I've started, and it can't be refunded unless it arrives damaged or faulty. That's why you approve the design along the way.

Every commission is different, so the price depends on the piece. Tell me what you have in mind and I'll come back to you with a price before any work begins.

Another question?

Ask me anything about a piece before you commit. There's no obligation.

Have an animal in mind?

Send me a message about the piece you have in mind. I'm happy to talk ideas through before we agree anything.
